In every shoot that I do, it’s my goal to create inspiring images that have soul. I grew up in the suburbs of New York City and have been making photographs since I was twelve years old. As a kid, I was always drawing and painting and I loved to experiment with different gadgets. Among the most fascinating- a rock tumbler, microscope, telescope, bug trapping paraphernalia, and a metal detector. In a middle school art class, I hand processed my first black and white roll of film, and saw my first print come up in the developer. Everything else fell by the wayside after that. I still feel the same way I did back then- photography is art plus science plus magic.
I studied photography and media arts at Pratt Institute, on a full 'talent search' scholarship, and I have about 15 years professional experience, including shooting for advertising campaigns and editorial work. Some of my clients have included Grey, Pfizer, Schwab, New York Life Insurance, Federal Reserve Bank, Elizabeth Arden, Williams Whittle, REDI, Red Bull, Health Leaders Magazine, Scholastic Magazine, HOW Design Magazine, World Childhood Foundation, Weekly Reader Magazine, Fidelity National Financial, Maryland Institute College of Art, Teachers College, Columbia University, Global Yodel, Homestay, University Pittsburgh Medical Center.
My fine art work has been exhibited and recognized nationally and internationally by galleries and institutions, including the Jenkins Johnson Gallery in New York City, the Santa Fe Center for Photography, the Noorderlicht International Photography Festival, and Humble Arts Foundation. Prints from my ongoing portrait series of my niece, ‘Julia’ and from ‘Dance Recital’ are in the collection of renowned photography collector Joe Baio in New York City.
Some awards and publications have included The International Photography Awards, Critical Mass, the book 'Flash Forward - Emerging Photographers' by The Magenta Foundation, Photo District News Annual, Lenscratch, Verve Photo, PDN Photo of the day, Esquire (Russian), Daily Candy, Dazed and Confused magazine, Resource magazine and CMYK magazine.
